Masters Sylvia Bazzarelli and Marcos Dos Santos, established the London School of Capoeira in 1988, as the first official capoeira school in the UK. Both graduates of the Association of Capoeira Senzala of Master Sombra, Santos, Brasil.
In 1991 they took on a permanent full time space in Highbury Islington, where they stayed for three years until the school grew beyond the capacity of the space.
In 1993 the School launched Passo Co, a Capoeira performing company, which would explore the skills and talent of experienced Capoeiristas.
In 1995 the London School became a registered Charity.
In September 2000 the London School moved to a full time space for Capoeira based in Finsbury Park, North London.
